WHAT'S THE MEANING The term Avatar (in Hinduism) refers to a manifestation or an embodiment of a person or idea. The term is derived from the Sanskrit word 'descent' which later appeared in the English language during the 18th century and referred to the descent of a deity to the earth and is usually the incarnation of the earthly form of Vishnu or another Hindu deity.
