Talk about an oldie but a goodie! Jackie Chan Adventures was an animated TV show that followed a cartoon version of the movie star and stunt master Jackie Chan as he battled the forces of darkness with his wizard uncle, only really ever addressed by the name Uncle, and his rambunctious niece Jade. The show had a great run, lasting for five seasons which were aired between the years 2000 and 2005.
Though many of the children who the show was initially aimed at have since grown into adults, their love for the series has remained strong - with a large number of those fans petitioning for the show to make a proper return to the silver screen. There were a number of mystical and sublime forces that were at play in the Jackie Chan Adventures world. The Talismans of Shendu were among some of the most prominently featured, with the J Team embarking on a slew of perilous, globe-trotting adventures in a bid to secure all twelve of the artifacts before the Dark Hand got their claws on them. Around season 3 of the show, 12 animals were introduced which all embodied one of the members of the Chinese Zodiac. For those who don't know, the Chinese Zodiac consists of a Dog, Tiger, Rat, Monkey, Pig, Rabbit, Rooster, Sheep, Snake, Horse, Ox, and Dragon. The featured dog of this article, a grey pup named Scruffy, embodied the Dog and would go on to join the J Team as the team's collective pet. Scruffy wasn't actually named as such when he first debuted in the season 3 episode The Power Unleashed.

Scruffy was a stray dog that Jade encountered fairly early in the episode, with the young girl giving the dog his name based on his scruffy appearance. The dog accompanies Jade as she meets up with Jackie and Uncle, who are both currently looking for a canine with powers based on Shendu's Dog Talisman. As one would suspect, the Enforcers are also looking for the dog. This leads to a few battles between the J Team and the Enforcers, with Scruffy helping the Chans out to best of his ability. Unfortunately for the dog, he ended getting caught in the line of fire - taking a seemingly fatal injury that was meant for the J Team. After the dust had settled, everyone expected the worst - that Scuffy had given his life to defend his newfound friends. As luck, or fate, would have it, Scruffy was revealed to be perfectly fine!
After a bit of deliberation, Uncle was able to deduce that Scruffy was, in fact, the descendant of the Noble Dog that originally possessed the Dog Talisman's power - the power of immortality. Scruffy was taken to the home base of the clandestine government organization Section 13. There, the dog was given a home and looked after under the watchful eye of Captain Augustus Black - a friend to the J Team and the Dark Hand's major source of opposition. Scruffy continued to make appearances in multiple episodes throughout the rest of the show's run, with his final appearance taking place in season 4.
One of the major reasons you should give your dog a Jackie Chan Adventures name is the show's sheer wealth of lovable, awesome characters; for the first three seasons Jackie, Jade, and Uncle served as the main protagonists of the show. They typically faced off against the members of the Dark Hand crime syndicate, which was comprised of the likes of Valmont, the Dark Hand's leader, Shendu, a demonic sorcerer, and the Enforcers - Valmont's team of thugs that consisted of four bruisers named Finn, Ratso, Chow, and Tohru. By the end of the first season, however, Tohru had a change of heart and joined Team Jackie - also known as the J Team. The characters we've just mentioned only really scratch the surface of the myriad of friends and foes the J Team encountered but just about any character who was prominently, and even not so prominently, featured in the show could serve as excellent inspiration for a dog's potential namesake. Another reason to give your dog a Jackie Chan Adventures name would be if you're a big fan of the J man himself - Jackie Chan. Chan first graced the big screen back in the 1960s via bit roles as a child.
